Each year, Wilco, a grower-owned farm supply cooperative serving the Willamette Valley and southwest Washington, selects a charity to support through their employee giving initiatives. In late 2007, Wilco employees overwhelmingly selected Ronald McDonald House Charities as the charity to be the recipient of proceeds from their annual Employee Shop Night and Employee Appreciation Dinner Auction.
On December 5th, Wilco employees and their families shopped at Wilco’s largest Farm Store, paying cost plus 5% on any item they purchased, with the 5% being set aside for RMHC. Then, on January 26th, more than 500 employees and guests bid on fabulous auction items at Wilco’s Employee Appreciation Dinner in Salem, with all proceeds benefiting RMHC.
Between the two events, Wilco raised $11,610, which was presented to RMHC in early March. The company’s generous support grew out of their interest in finding a creative way as an employee team to give back to local charities.
RMHC deeply appreciates the opportunity to be Wilco’s charity of choice.
