Families shine in Starlight Parade

Parr Lumber sponsored a float in the Starlight Parade that featured two Ronald McDonald House families. The families had fun riding in the parade that weaves two miles through the streets of Portland as part of the Rose Festival.

A vintage flatbed truck carried the families, volunteers and the RMHC Bicycle String Bandits who played bluegrass music the entire time. Ronald McDonald himself made a parade appearance and got the crowd cheering and clapping.

“It was really a lot of fun,” explained Assistant House Manager Lindsay Dance. “There were lots of smiles on and off the float.”

A big RMHC thank you to Parr Lumber’s Scott Cofey who makes the float each year and RMHC volunteers Tommy Baker, Stavros Calos and past house guest Lione Claire for sharing their musical talents.
