Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington (RMHC) announced that its Board of Trustees has elected Phil Fogg, Jr. chair and the board appointed Jan Murtagh as a board member.
“It’s an honor to take a leadership role with RMHC,” explained Fogg. “We have a superb staff, a quality group of dedicated volunteers, and an experienced and passionate Board of Trustees. My wife and I have been involved with RMHC for several years and originally got involved out of a sincere sense of good fortune that we were blessed with three healthy boys. We never had to deal with the serious childhood illnesses or medical traumas that the families that stay at the Ronald McDonald Houses are enduring."
“I am thrilled by Phil’s appointment and excited to be working more closely with him,” stated RMHC’s Executive Director, Tom Soma. “Having already chaired the year-long planning process, which resulted in a new revenue model and guidelines for program and partner selection, Phil brings the perfect blend of leadership and vision to his new role as board chair. As president of Marquis Companies, he has first-hand knowledge and experience in the creation and implementation of growth strategies that are both sensible and sensitive to his clients. Nothing is more important as we seek to expand our services to children and families.”
Fogg is the founder and president of Marquis Companies and has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since the company's inception. He is a graduate of Concordia University where he received a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Care Administration. In 1989, he attained a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.
In addition to his business achievements, Mr. Fogg has participated in a variety of state associations. He is a Past President of the Oregon Health Care Association, a trade association that represents the interests of 300 Oregon skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. He has also participated as a board member of the American Health Care Association, the Oregon Gerentological Association, home health advisory boards and various senior citizen council boards.
Additional officers elected for 2008 are: Stephen Abouaf, Past Chair; Beth Irish, Vice-Chair; Tim Fleishmann, Treasurer; and David Stoller, Secretary.
The board appointed Jan Murtagh as its newest member. Mrs. Murtagh is president of Component Design Northwest, Inc. (CDN), a leader in the thermometer and timer industry. She is a graduate of Whittier College where she received a Bachelor of Arts. In 1985, she obtained a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College.
